Ever so often we hear and say that Islam is a way Ever so often we hear and say that Islam is a way of life but do we really believe it or is just another quote/phrase in our repertoire? . Over the past 12-18months, one thing I have really tried to focus on is to live in the PRESENT, be more conscious of my intentions, actions and be more aware generally. . What I have come to realize is, all the tools and resources I need, I already have. I just need to mine it and put it to good use. . I haven’t seen any books, articles , videos courses etc that are as encompassing and truly depict the picture of mindfulness and conscious living as my religion, Islam does. Ma shaa Allah! Alhamdulilah for guidance and discernment. . As a Nigerian quote will say: What I am looking for in Sokoto, is in my Sokoto. . A question for you: what is it that you are seeking externally but you already have in your arsenal? . Xoxo

I spoke about how not taking action on what my hea I spoke about how not taking action on what my heart was telling me in the past caused me so much grief. A root cause of that, was following the advice of ‘you must be known for ONE thing’ . So it became a game of suppressing other ways I wanted to express myself in order to stay in line and not come across ‘scattered’. . Something changed for me though, I started seeing evidences in people who were known for more than ONE thing. Suddenly, I started to see the possibilities and clear representation of who I could be. To say the shift happened immediately would be a lie, but gradually I started building my courage muscle. Courage to explore and nurture other parts of me screaming for attention; honestly it’s been an eye opening ride and I am better for it! . Yes, you can be known for more than one thing and you should give yourself permission to explore other areas if your soul longs for it ... Honestly, unfulfilment is not a pretty space to be Honestly, unfulfilment is not a pretty space to be in. Been there and I still revisit this space from time to time but now I know better. I figured over time that not taking action on what I feel nudged to do has caused me plenty heart ache 😭😭. I can say this now because I reflect a lot. . Taking time out to introspect is such a vital activity every human should do. The amount of things you can learn about yourself just from pausing to examine your thought process is mind blowing. . Self awareness is at the root of knowing what you need to nourish your authentic self. 95% of people believe they are self aware but research shows otherwise, only a shocking 10-15% of people actually truly know themselves! . Often, who we are is blurred with opinions and impressions of others especially family, loosing yourself in dreams of others, trauma, doubt and fear. . Discovering ourselves is an process and this is why learning, thinking and reflection should be constant actions in our lives. Sit with those uncomfortable feelings , re-visit your earlier years; a lot of keys are in there and most importantly open your mind to Dream. . Something to ponder: Do I know what I want?

Earlier this year, I was unwell for about 5months, Earlier this year, I was unwell for about 5months, and that totally depleted whatever dwindling and undulating energy I had left prior to getting sick. . I had gotten to a point of having to muster up so much energy before I could do stuff and after, I crashed. I hated this and i desperately needed to change the situation! . My intention for the year is ‘Execute’ and I know that I need a constant level of energy to do this effectively. I need energy to handle the combination of work, family, friends, hobbies, health etc without burning out. . So I have been trying these 6 actions above for almost a month now and it’s been working tremendously. I dare say that like fine wine,my energy levels gets better everyday. . Have you been struggling with your energy levels? Is there something you need to do that requires a lot of effort and you just can’t muster the energy to do it? I invite you to try these regularly and let me know how you get on. I am pretty confident it works. . P.s: Dhikr means remembrance of God and glorifying him in Islam . . Be blessed! 😘😘
Top of the morningggg! . Intentions are so so powe Top of the morningggg! . Intentions are so so powerful! As a Muslim, I knew there was a strong importance to setting intentions before any action; but I guess I was never really conscious of the effects/outcome of my intentions . Intentions are powerful in the sense that they keep you grounded in the present. It has the ability to keep you focused on the action you intend to perform now , not something in the future.It’s like making up your mind to enjoy the process rather than waiting for the destination. . The best part about it is there isn’t a method or appropriate time and place to setting intentions. Just take a quiet pause and set it. Of course, be sincere. . Hello my people! How has the weekend been for you? Hello my people! How has the weekend been for you? Soooo Saturday mornings for the past 5weeks have been so exciting for me. Whooooosh!!! A desire that I have nurtured for over a decade finally came to fruition this year. Brethren, this is a classic case of ‘keep the fire burning’. I have always wanted to learn how to swim since my secondary school years but one thing or the other always got in the way. 😅😅 . As I strongly believe in seasons though, I couldn’t have imagined a more prefect timing for me to finally learn how to swim! Up until now, I had not experienced an activity which taught me and is constantly teaching me about the concept and importance of EASE in life than this sport. 🥰🥰. . Now, in my usual fashion the aim is not to only swim but to swim gracefully and elegantly so help me God 🙏🏽😁. Another class, another reminder. My Ustaz and I we Another class, another reminder. My Ustaz and I went through the meaning of this Surah yesterday and in summary, as a Muslim there must be a balance between chasing after the pleasures of this world and striving towards the hereafter. • Is there ever really a balance though? From my own experience there is bound to be a tilt more to one side than the other especially as we go through different seasons and trials. • The question I then asked myself , which I know many of us may also ponder upon is how do we keep our hereafter guaranteed while we navigate through this temporary world. This morning, a lesson I learnt from the book Atomic habits jumped at me and it explains it to a large extent for me. • It’s about building an identity. For example, an identity I want to build is that of one who will see Allah’s face on the day of judgement ( ooooh anytime I imagine about seeing His face, Subhanallah I feel so fuzzy inside . Hehehehe). • How then do I develop that identity? It’s by building habits that help towards solidifying my highly coveted identity e.g performing my salat, tahajjud, reciting and reflecting upon the Quran, giving charity, keep family ties etc; basically actions that increase your good deeds. My thought process is.. when you have made both the obligatory and non obligatory actions habit -like, even when all the distractions of everyday living comes, you are able to stay grounded because they are already an ingrained part of you and you have a strong why ( identity) to keep working towards. • Something to note though is that when an action become a habit it’s easy to do it without thinking and this is where renewing your intentions and always trying to do more than the barest minimum when it comes to your spirituality matter. May Allah make us amongst those who see His face on the day of resurrection. Ameen. • I would like to hear your thoughts , how are you able to keep a balance?
